As a part of which a Road safety awareness rally was organized on 08.06.2016 which was presided by the commissioner of Police, Salem city and our NSS volunteers participated in the Rally. The Rally started from CSI Polytecnic and ended at Hasthampatti Roundana.
The NSS of Government Arts College (Autonomous) Salem-7 has organized International yoga day under the guidance of our college Principal (i/c) Dr. K. Murugeswari and Dr.S.Nanda kumar, NSS co-coordinator, Periyar University and the volunteers have also shown keen interest in maintaining discipline in conducting the programme.
Our college NSS and a team from Ramachandra mission jointly organized a programme on ‘Yoga for life’. The programme was conducted for all the under graduate first year students. They were grouped into batches and many sessions were conducted and were arranged in two seminar halls. Mr.C.Sekar and Mr.N.Mohanraju along with 11 other members from their crew effectively handled all those sessions by guiding the students on how to relax by doing meditation and by giving some simple yoga exercises for them to practice. Also they made the students to do yoga. Nearly 1200 students from our college were benefited by this programme.
After getting into NSS, the students should know the motto of NSS, its objectives and basic concepts of NSS. So an orientation regarding the concept of social service, methods and skills required for achieving the objectives of the scheme was conducted by the programme officer unit – 4. The students were given motivation by explaining them about what is NSS? Its motto, objective and what are the works that should be carried out in NSS and the benefits of NSS.
Our College NSS along with the Income tax Department celebrated Income Tax Day on 24.07.2016 by conducting a Mini Marathon to publicise the Income Declaration Scheme, 2016. The Mini Marathon was led by Shri.K. Parashivaiah, I.R.S., Commissioner of Income Tax(Appeals), Salem.
Our college NSS volunteers also participated in the Mini Marathon which started from the Income tax Office, Gandhi Road, Salem-7 and covered Ramakrishna Road, Rajaji Road, Cherry Road, Hasthampatti Circle, Sarada college Road, Ramakrishna Road and finally reached the Income Tax Office. Nearly 100 NSS volunteers from our college participated on this occasion.
Independence Day was celebrated in our college campus. The function was graced by our Principal (i/c) Dr.K. Murugeswari by hoisting the National Flag and she has delivered the Independence Day message. Then our NSS volunteers have given speech from Thirukural, Bhagavath Geetha, Bible and Quran. The theme of all their speech is about self discipline and religious tolerance.
We know that ‘Cleanliness is next to Godliness’. So our NSS volunteers should know the importance of cleanliness and hence we performed the activity of campus cleaning.
On behalf of the birthday celebration of Bharat Rathna Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam on 15.10.2015 as youth awakening day, our NSS Volunteers of Unit – 4 along with our Principal (i/c) Prof.T.Subramani garlanded Dr.A.P.J’s Photo and honoured him.
Saplings were planted in our college campus by our NSS volunteers. Our college Principal (i/c) Prof. T.Subramani graced the occasion.
A team of ten NSS volunteers along with the programme officer (unit – 4) Dr. P.Senthil Vadivu participated in the Digital India workshop in Periyar University.
Vigilance awareness week was celebrated by our college NSS volunteers along with Union Bank of India. Students were asked not to give or get bribe for doing things.
The NSS units(1-4) of Government Arts College (Autonomous) Salem-7 has organized the Clean India Programme under the guidance of our college Principal Dr.P. Esther Joice and Dr.S.Nanda kumar, NSS co-coordinator, Periyar University and the volunteers have also shown keen interest in participating in the activity.
The District Legal Services Authority, Salem along with our college NSS volunteers conducted the swachh Bharath (Clean India) Activities programme at District court Campus, Salem on 07.01.2017. On behalf of this our college NSS volunteers performed the campus cleaning. Nearly 140 students participated in the activity and removed the bushes and collected the garbage’s from the court campus.
Thiru.V.Ravichandran, Secretary/Sub judge inaugurated the activity by mentioning the importance of cleanliness and Dr.P.Senthil Vadivu gave the special address. Our NSS Programme officers Mr. N.Ranganathan, Dr.T.Ramesh, Dr.A.Ganesan and Dr.P.Senthil Vadivu monitored the cleaning programme.

Our college NSS along with sivaramji Blood bank Vivekanandha ‘s birthday was celebrated as “World Youth Day” . On this occasion more than 35 of our NSS volunteers donated blood.
