ACTIVITIES OF THE CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT CELL

  1. Curriculum Development Cell is framed for the college to design the curriculum in Learning Outcome based Curricular Framework for the students admitted from 2021-22 onwards. The main objective of this CDC is to upgrade the curriculum based on the day-to-day requirements.

  1. The curriculum of 2021-2022 is designed for all UG and PG programmes following UGC, TANSCHE and Periyar University guidelines and having minimum 75% similarity with the TANSCHE norms based on the guidelines from Faculty Development Programme on “Learning Outcome Based Curriculum Design – Steps and Strategies” organized by Curriculum Development Cell on 17-03-2021.
  1. Boards of Studies meeting of various departments were conducted from 3-2-2021 to 10-02-2021 regarding new curriculum and syllabi for academic year 2021-2022.

  • The following three non-credits Self-study Research Acumen courses are introduced in all PG Courses.

  • An Interdisciplinary course is introduced in the 3rd semester of PG Courses. Any two departments can collaboratively offer a common course with 50:50 ratio of content from respective subjects to promote interdisciplinary teaching –learning.
  • A mandatory enrollment in a Swayam/NTPL course for all PG students in the entire course duration. The course selected shall be relevant to his/her subject approved by HOD.
  • Extra credits (2 credits/course) for completing additional Swayam courses shall be awarded.
  • Two Communicative English papers are introduced in Semester I and II of all UG programmes replacing Foundation English papers as per the directions of TANSCHE.
  • Professional English courses are introduced in I and II semesters of all UG Programmes with Two credits each.
  • Practical Course on Film and Literature (21PELP1) with 40 marks for Internal Assessment and 60 marks for External Examination is introduced.
  • The Allied Mathematics Paper III offered by the Department of Mathematics is modified as a practical paper in the new syllabus.
  • The Internship for I M.Sc Geology is added as a mandatory component in the new syllabus.
  • Four self -study Elective courses with 2 credits in Semester III of UG under Part V – Extension Activities are introduced.
